FINANCE OFFICER

Youth Work Ireland Midlands is now seeking an experienced Finance
Officer to join our multidisciplinary team.

The Finance Officer is based in Regional Office, Athlone (N**Apply on
the website**E2K7). The role will become an integral part of our team,
responsible for the day to day accounting and financial management,
budgeting, and reporting function of the organisation. In addition,
the Finance Officer will partner with the CEO and Board, to develop
and strengthen strategies relating to finance across the organisation.
The ideal candidate will be an ambitious, qualified accountant or
part-qualified accountant with experience managing finances and
accounting systems. The role has options for remote working.

REPORTING TO: CEO
LOCATION: Athlone with remote working by agreement.

PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE ROLE

REPORTING TO THE CEO

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

* Prepare monthly management accounts and provide analysis thereon.
* Provide financial insight and analysis on the charities financial
performance and position including cash flow projections for CEO,
Treasurer and Board
* Assist the CEO with preparation of annual budgets and ongoing
forecasts.
* Support CEO with preparation of year-end trial balance and
statutory financial statements for audit (using SORP Accounting for
Charities).
* Preparation of financial returns to External Funders.
* Accounts Payable Function
* Accounts Receivable Function.
* Prepare and process weekly / monthly Payroll run ensuring
compliance with Revenue best practice
* Carry out ad-hoc assignments as determined by the CEO
* Prepare for and attend external audit/monitoring meetings with
funders
* All duties pertaining to administration of DSP Community
Employment Scheme

GENERAL

* To work within Youth Work Ireland Midlands, procedures and to
adhere to legal frameworks.
* To act in the best interests of Youth Work Ireland Midlands,
carrying the case for support and acting as an ambassador for Youth
Work Ireland Midlands in line with our vision and mission.
* To support, mentor and line manage the p/t administrative
assistant.
* To liaise with staff in relation to employment / revenue.
* To carry out any other duties that may be assigned from time to
time and working as an integrated team member.

THE PERSON - SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

The Finance Officer should be able to demonstrate that they possess
the necessary skills, competence and experience as well as an
eagerness to continue professional development and learning.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

* Knowledge and experience with the use of accounting/payroll
packages - BIG RED BOOK in particular
* Strong ICT and reporting skills with experience of using Google
Workspace
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong organisational skills and efficient in work processes
* Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Knowledge of the Charities SORP

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

* Qualified Accountant with 2 years working experience or Part
Qualified (finalist) Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA) with circa 5 years?
working experience in a similar environment.
* Experience working in a voluntary / charity organisation is also
desirable
